Please visit Working with Me on this site for my beliefs about therapy and more information.
I do verbal therapy but specialize in creative work blending guiding imagery and music, counseling techniques, EMDR, relaxation techniques and mandala-making into my music psychotherapy practice. As a music therapist I am committed to the power of combining and working with music, music imagery and guided imagery and music (GIM). I also train other professionals in The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music with the Therapeutic Arts Institute because I believe in it so much. EMDR is an amazing tool for help with events or thoughts that have traumatized or interrupt your capacity to live well. Another part of my work, after ten years as a music therapist/oncology specialist at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, is continuing to lead stress reduction groups for cancer survivors at Advocate Lutheran General’s Survivorship Center.
Recorded for my clients, my guided imagery/relaxation CD, Consciously Creating Wellness: Light and Nourishment, is available on this website and also at www.cdbaby.com. I narrated, composed and performed the music for this guided imagery relaxation CD; clients have found that it helps them lower stress levels, relax and sleep better. I have written book chapters, journal articles and continue to present workshops often on music therapy, guided imagery and other topics including the transformational power of music.
